HITRANS Regional Transport Strategy
HITRANS stands for Highlands and Islands Transport Partnership in Scotland. As a statutory body its remit covers all forms of public transport in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland including ferry, road transport, rail, air travel, cycling and walking.
The Transport Scotland Act 2005 requires HITRANS and the other six Regional Transport Partnerships in Scotland to prepare a Transport Strategy for the region to enhance economic well being, promote safety, social inclusion and equality opportunity, plan for a sustainable transport system, and integrate across boundaries with other Partnerships.
