Discounts

Liability for Council Tax assumes that there are two or more residents in a dwelling, aged 18 years or over. If you are aged 18 years or over and live alone you may be entitled to a 25% discount, if no-one resides in the dwelling you may be entitled to a discount of between 10% and 50%.

There are also categories of persons, including students, who are not counted when looking at how many adults live in a property.

Exemptions 

Some dwellings are exempt from the Council Tax altogether. These include dwellings where all the residents are students and some empty dwellings.
