Training and Complementary Projects

Evolution of Kirkwall

Project briefs and tender documents have been produced for the Evolution of Kirkwall Exhibition at Tankerness House Museum and for providing Digital Visitor Interpretation for St. Magnus Cathedral. It is hoped that consultants will be appointed in March 2016 to help develop and deliver these projects.

Community Archaeology

The Community Archaeology project has begun with volunteers involved in the 1st stage of the project and more events planned during the forthcoming year. Anyone with an interest in Archaeology who would like to get involved in the project should contact the KTHI office or Dan Lee at Orkney College.

Tour Guide Training

Further funding has been approved by the KTHI to deliver more Tour Guide Training. These new courses are based around the First and Second World Wars, Hossack’s Kirkwall and Kirkwall Literature. These additional courses will increase the number of tours around Kirkwall and take visitors to parts of the town centre and conservation area that they may not have normally visited.
