Surface dressing update - Monday 11 June and Tuesday 12 June
Surface dressing work will continue on Monday 11 June and Tuesday 12 June in the Bay of Skaill/Skara Brae area, on the B9056 between the B9057 (the Loch of Skaill) and Quoyloo Road.
A signed diversion will remain in place via Quoyloo Road, onto the A967, and then onto the B9055 (the ‘Queena to Aith road’).
The roadworks will affect public bus service 8S – Kirkwall – Stromness – Skara Brae. The 16:45 from Kirkwall will be unaffected. Outwith this time, the bus will not serve Skara Brae, Marwick, Quoyloo and Birsay Hostel.
It's expected work on this Bay of Skaill section will be completed at some stage on Tuesday (12 June), after which the team will move later on Tuesday onto the B9055 in Sandwick, which will be closed to traffic between its junction with the A967 at Queena and its junction with the B9057 near Aith.
A signed diversion will be in place via Quoyloo Road, then onto the A967 as far as the B9056 junction near the Yesnaby turnoff.

- Roads will be closed in both directions while surface dressing is being carried out, with closures in place from as early as 06:00 and as late as 18:00.
- School transport buses will be escorted through the work sites.
- Public buses will be permitted through work sites during peak hours only (before 09:30 and after 16:00).
