Road maintenance works are due to be carried out on Stromness' main street from next week (11 June - 15 June).
Work will take place from Alfred Street right through the town to John Street. To enable the works to be carried out safely, short sections of the road will be closed to all vehicles between 8.30am and 2.15pm and again between 1.15pm and 3.30pm each day. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the duration of the works.
Once works are completed the areas where repairs have been done will remain covered by metal plates to protect the works until all materials have had sufficient curing time. This will take a number of days.
The programme of closures is as follows:
- Monday 11 June 2018 - John Street.
- Tuesday 12 June and Wednesday 13 June 2018 - Victoria Street (John Street to Church Road).
- Thursday 14 June 2018 - Victoria Street (Church Road to Graham Place), Graham Place and Dundas Street.
- Friday 15 June 2018 Alfred Street & Southend.
