Temporary traffic lights will be in place in Kirkwall from Wednesday 4 April at the mini roundabout where Pickaquoy Road joins Junction Road.
This is to allow contractors to work on the water supply to the new flats development near the roundabout.
The traffic lights expected to be in place until Sunday 15 April.
During this time the pedestrian crossing on Junction Road at the Scout Hall carpark will be closed, as will a section of footpath along Junction Road from Frazer's Close to the Gunn's Close carpark.
Pedestrians and drivers are asked to pay special attention to road and footpath signs - and take their time when passing through the areas where the work is taking place.
All involved apologise in advance for any delays and inconvenience caused.
