Still want to donate?
As some of you will know, I (Lorraine) was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2018 when aged 45. A tough journey lay ahead and the recovery was challenging. I spent four and a half decades swallowing without thinking, only to lose that ability within a few months of the treatment to blast the tumour and cancer cells. I survive on high calorie prescription milkshakes. Research into cancer is everything. It will does save lives and, some day, will hopefully make treatments such as mine less invasive. We all know someone who has been affected by cancer in our lives - and if you don't already, then, sadly you will at some point. Inga has her own personal reasons for wanting to raise money for CRUK, given a family member's diagnosis. Together we want to give something back and have asked our colleagues at the Council to help with a distance challenge and raffle. More than 100 have signed up to walk, run, swim, cycle 229 miles over six weeks, whether as an individual or part of a team of up to 5. We know times are tough at the moment and we recognise that you are asked many times to donate to worthwhile causes but if you can spare a few pounds that would be fantastic. Thanks so much Inga, Lorraine and everyone at OIC
