Personal Profile

Orcadian- born and brought up in Kirkwall. Educated at Kirkwall Grammar School. Trained in Aberdeen and Glasgow qualifying in nursing, midwifery and health visiting. Worked abroad for a short time before returning to Orkney to work as a Health Visitor. I studied with the Open University and hold two Open University degrees.

Became a councilor for the Papdale Ward in 1996. Served as Chair of Education Committee from 1999 to 2010. Interests in the Council include Social Services, Housing, Education, environmental issues, renewable energy, waste management and fuel poverty. Married with two adult sons

Craftwork, in particular spinning and rug making. I also enjoy gardening - mostly growing flowers.
