Our Customer Services Reception centre, also known as the One Stop Shop, is housed in the former East Kirk in School Place, Kirkwall. It is specially designed to be your first port of call whenever you need information or advice from or about the council.

Gateway to all Council Services

Customer Services is your gateway to all council services and is your first point of contact if you:

  • Want to pay a bill
  • Need to collect refuse bags
  • Need to report a road defect or a street light fault
  • Need to report a repair to a Council property
  • Need to get a Blue Badge for disabled parking
  • Require information about benefits or housing
  • Need to arrange a Special Collection of bulky items
  • Want to book onto a Evening/Daytime class
  • Want to organise a concessionary travel card for over 60s, disabled and young persons
  • Have to collect a application form for Housing, Planning, Building Warrant, Licensing, Education Maintenance Allowance, Free School Meals, Job Applications etc.
  • Have any other questions about the services, advice and information the council can provide

Accessibility

Customer Services has full disabled access, is equipped with extensive hearing loop facilities and subscribes to the Royal National Institute for the Deaf’s Typetalk system. There’s a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with an open plan environment with meeting rooms available for more sensitive discussions.
