Corporate Asset Management Plan 2013 - 2018
This plan summarises Orkney Islands Council’s aims and objectives for our assets to ensure that they are used in an effective and efficient manner. The delivery of the plan supports Orkney Islands Council’s corporate priorities in Our Plan 2013 - 2018 and is based on our values. It also provides detail on our future investment strategy and the effect this will have on our assets.
The function of asset management within Orkney Islands Council applies to all types of physical asset held by the Council. Assets are classified in the following six generic categories:
- Open Spaces and Heritage.
- Roads and Infrastructure.
- Fleet and Plant.
- Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
The roads and infrastructure category covers:
- Roads Infrastructure.
- Marine Infrastructure.
- Airfield Infrastructure.
- Waste Management and Disposal.
- Burial grounds.
- Promoting survival.
- Promoting sustainability.
- Promoting equality and fairness.
- Working together.
- Working with communities.
- Working to provide better services.
In addition, a separate detailed plan is being developed for each asset type which will set out how we will achieve our asset aims and objectives.
