OIC's 'Tough Times Tough Choices' public engagement ended on January 13, with with the last of the 20 roadshows held across Orkney.
So while the Convener's blog is now closed for further comment, you can still view responses by exploring the links to the left of this page. The Tough Times Tough Choices blog ran for 4 weeks in autumn 2010 and was re-opened in November by popular demand and attracted over 240 responses while it was open.
Work has now started on collating all the views from this blog, the 20 engagement meetings, and other feedback from OIC staff and the public, ready for consideration by the Council and Elected Members over the next few weeks.
On the 1st of February detailed proposals for the savings OIC needs to make in 2011-12 will be debated formally at a special budget-setting meeting of the Policy and Resources Committee. Councillors will also debate whether to set provisional budgets for 2012-13 and 2013-14.
A Special General Meeting of the Council takes place on February 10, when final decisions will be made.
Although it’s not possible to accept further comments as part of the Tough Times engagement, we thank your for taking the time to visit these webpages and encourage you to become involved in future consultations involving specific Council services - these will be publicised in the local press and on the OIC website.
