Committees: Agendas, Reports and Minutes

Members of the Council sit on seven main committees, listed in the menu on the left. Each committee makes recommendations connected to a particular area of the council’s work, such as education or community social services.

Cycle of Meetings

A cycle of meetings involving each of the committees takes place five times a year. Once a cycle has been completed, a meeting of the full council is held. All 21 councillors take part – and make final decisions on the recommendations made by the committees.

Scheme of Administration

The Scheme of Administration, last reviewed in February 2007, sets out the allocation of the functions of the Council among the Committees of the Council, and also the delegation to Committees of authority to exercise the functions of the Council.

The Scheme of Administration should be read in conjunction with the Council’s Standing Orders, the Financial Regulations and the Scheme of Delegation to Officers.
